Testicular Germ Cell Tumors with Somatic-type Malignancy

چکیده
Testicular cancer accounts for ∼1% of all cancers in men worldwide, with over 90% testicular being germ cell tumors (GCTs). Since the introduction multimodal therapy, GCTs have been among most curable solid tumors. However, some patients may develop late relapse, which is defined as recurrence at least two years after initial complete remission. Late particularly common teratomatous and associated somatic-type malignancy (SM) development. Approximately 2.5–8.0% GCT SM, a distinct secondary component that resembles seen other organs tissues. The histological subtypes SM are diverse show morphological features sarcomas, carcinomas, embryonic-type neuroectodermal tumors, nephroblastomas, hematologic malignancies, or combination different forms. Several studies demonstrated development GCTs, metastatic sites, poor prognosis. In current review, we discuss concept diagnostic criteria, subtypes, pathogenesis, clinical outcomes SM.

Bilateral testicular germ cell tumors.
Testicular cancer represents 1% to 1.5% of neoplasias in males and 5% of urologic tumors in general. The incidence of bilateral testicular tumors is 1-5%. Approximately one third of the cases are diagnosed as synchronous, while the other two thirds are diagnosed as metachronous tumors. Additionally, 5% of all patients diagnosed with testicular cancer may have contralateral intratubular germ cel...
متن کاملgenetics of testicular germ cell tumors
testicular germ cell tumor (tgct) is the most solid tumor in 20-40 years old man. tgct account for 95% of testicular tumors and represent a unique type of human cancer from several different perspectives. tgct arise by transformation of germ cells. the transformed germ cells exhibit ploripotentially to differentiate into embryonic. extra-embryonic, and somatic tissue types, and are highly sensi...
متن کاملPure Testicular Seminoma Relapsing Late with Somatic Type Malignancy
Background. Somatic type malignancy (STM) occurs in 2% of all germ cell tumours (GCTs). The prognosis is unfavourable and the origin is poorly understood. Pathogenetic hypotheses involve direct transformation of teratoma, origin from totipotent cancer cells, or derivation from yolk sac tumour elements. Case Presentation. A 31-year-old patient was cured from testicular seminoma clinical stage II...
متن کاملShould extragonadal germ cell tumors be included in studies of families with testicular germ cell tumors?
BACKGROUND Family history is among the few established risk factors for testicular germ cell tumor (TGCT). Approximately 1.4% of newly diagnosed TGCT patients report a positive family history of TGCT. Sons and siblings of TGCT patients have four- to six fold and eight- to tenfold increase in TGCT risk, respectively. In twins of men with TGCT the relative risk of testicular cancer is 37.5 (12.3-...
متن کاملUpdate on testicular germ cell tumors.
PURPOSE OF REVIEW This overview discusses several important developments in testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) over the past year. RECENT FINDINGS Genomic studies continue to investigate gene expression as possible markers for disease relapse and metastatic potential. Optimal treatment strategies for early-stage seminomas continue to evolve toward surveillance versus chemotherapy, although d...
